Incorporated in 1923, Andhra Bank is a public sector bank engaged in providing a wide range of banking and financial services, including retail banking, corporate banking, and treasury operations. The bank operates an extensive branch network across India, with a strong presence in Andhra Pradesh.
As of September 30, 2005, the bank had 1,177 branches across 21 states and 2 union territories, along with 526 additional delivery channels such as ATMs, extension counters, and satellite offices, serving over 13.9 million customers.
The bank reported total assets of ₹350,791.21 million and a net worth of ₹20,463.75 million as of September 30, 2005. It has demonstrated consistent growth in deposits and advances, with a CAGR of 10.78% in deposits and 23.94% in net advances over the preceding four years.
Founded by Dr. Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya in Machilipatnam, the bank is headquartered in Hyderabad. It became a wholly owned Government bank following nationalisation in 1980 and later diluted government shareholding through a public issue in 2001. The bank also holds lead bank responsibilities in select districts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
