To transfer shares to a nominee after the death of a Zerodha account holder, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Annexure 1 (PDF)
  • Transmission Form 7.2 (PDF)
  • Original, notarised, or attested death certificate of the deceased
  • Self-attested PAN copy of the surviving account holder(s)
  • A cancelled cheque, bank statement, or passbook of the surviving account holder(s) that's no more than three months old
  • CMR hard copy of the surviving account holder with DP seal and signature
  • A cheque in the name of Zerodha Broking Ltd if the deceased has a debit balance.

If the deceased's name doesn't match the CMR or death certificate, you must submit a notarised affidavit stating the name mismatch. If the nominee is a minor, you need to provide a guardian certificate unless the minor already has a Zerodha account.
