SMC Global is the depository participant (DP) of NSDL and CDSL. SMC acts as an intermediary between the central depositories and the customers. The account is opened and managed by the central depository. SMC charges a fee from its customers for servicing the demat account. The central depository also charges a fee on each demats account transaction.
