• Opening a new demat and trading account with Zerodha,
• Transferring your holdings, and
• Close your old account.

Note that F&O positions must be closed before initiating the transfer, and account opening or transfer charges may apply.

Step-by-Step Process to Transfer Your Trading Account to Zerodha

1. Open a Zerodha Account

If you don’t already have an account with Zerodha:

• Go to:https://zerodha.com/open-account
• Complete the online application using Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details.
• Upload necessary documents (PAN, address proof, signature, income proof for F&O).

2. Transfer Holdings from Old Broker (Demat to Demat Transfer)

If you have shares in your existing demat account, you can transfer them to your Zerodha demat account:

Two Methods:

a) Online Transfer via CDSL Easiest (if both demat accounts are with CDSL):

• Register at:https://web.cdslindia.com/myeasi/Registration/EasiRegistration
• Link your existing demat account.
• Add your Zerodha demat account (DP ID: 12081600, BO ID: Zerodha client ID).
• Initiate off-market transfer of shares.

b) Offline Transfer (Using Delivery Instruction Slip - DIS):

• Get a DIS from your old broker.
• Fill in Zerodha’s demat account details.
• Submit the slip to your current DP for transfer.

3. Close the Old Trading/Demat Account (Optional but Recommended)

• Submit a formal closure request with your old broker.
• Ensure all dues are cleared and no shares are left.

• Trading accounts cannot be "transferred" — you just stop using the old one and begin trading via Zerodha.
